The carers storybook: stories of carers with children with severe disabilities and medical conditions Australian Government [2018]

This book was inspired by and dedicated to over four thousand carers who described their experiences in submissions to the Carer Payment (child) Review Taskforce in 2007. It gives a glimpse into the lives of these carers whose love for these children helps them find the strength, humour and resilience to keep going. It is 44 pages in Pdf format.

Includes links to reports, websites and excellent information on what intellectual disabilities are, the rights and values of people, supporting independence, education and employment, and causes and syndromes.



Grandparents : information for families -- London: Contact a Family [2018] 12 p.

Presents ideas for grandparents on how best to support parents of a child with a disability, and where to find assistance (UK). The article discusses the needs and feelings that grandparents may experience, looks at the supporting role of grandparents, support networks, caring for siblings and tips from other grandparents.
